Greetings to all once again from the
beautiful Andes Mountains! What a blessing to be able to serve our Lord
surrounded by such beauty.
As I type, we have just returned from the airport from picking up CJ, Amanda and
Jaxon Martin, two dear friends and their son from our home church. We are so
glad that they are here and are looking forward to spending the next week with
them.
Back in March we had some visiting missionaries from Victory Baptist Press. They
came to see our work and plan the shipment of over 20,000 Spanish Bibles which
they will be sending later this year. As I said in our last letter we will be
distributing the bibles throughout S. America to missionaries and national
pastors.
On March 25th we started a new Bible study in a city named Jesús. We rented a
front room in a building only one block from the city square. We started
inviting people by showing a video with our Mobile Unit on the square a week
before. There were over 133 present and eight received Christ that night.
The next week we had 28 visitors to the Bible study and two received Christ
as Savior. Since then, we have seen at least seven more saved including
the landlord of the building.
In April we went to Matara to pass out tracts in an area where missionary friend
Shane Rice is planning on helping out an old church. It has not had a pastor in
about ten years. While there, I (Don) had an opportunity to talk to six classes
in a Catholic Public School. They were happy that we had visited and invited us
back to speak in the future. We also projected a video on the city square of
Matara last week. There were over 100 in attendance and the good seed was sown.
We have another video planned for this Friday night in an area called Shaullo
Chico.
We have just finished a three week class on Sunday nights on the history of the
Spanish Bible. This was taught by missionary Shane Rice. There was great
attendance and a lot of good information.
Building Program Update –
Praise God and thanks to some good friends of our ministry, the funds came in to
place the final roof on the new building. The workers have been busy welding and
painting the trusses. We are hoping to see the first ones in place next week.
The stuccoing of the 2nd floor rooms has also begun and we have the electricity
connected to the building. PROGRESS! God is so good! Please pray that the funds
continue to come in so we will be able to work until all construction is
complete.
We started this letter talking about our visitors. We also have some others
coming this year. The question is…When are YOU coming? Yes YOU! We would love to
help you plan a trip to come see how God is working in our area of Peru through
your giving and prayers. Please let us know if it is a possibility! Our doors
are always open and “we’ll keep the light on fer ya!”
We are constantly adding photos to our website of all the happenings in our
ministry. Please take a moment to enjoy viewing them. www.rich2peru.com May God
bless each of you for your prayers, support and encouragement.
Serving Him for You in Peru,
Don & Carla Rich
